TRS wants May 16 as Appointed Day for Telangana. Since the results of the current general election will be out on that day, there is no point in waiting till June 2, the date fixed as Appointed Day by the central government. Contending that it will be unconstitutional to keep the legislatures waiting even after the elections, the TRS now wants the AP High Court to direct the Centre to fix May 16 as the Appointed Day instead of June 2.
Though TRS polit bureau member G Jagadish Reddy on Monday tried to move a house motion in this regard, he was told by the authorities to file it on Tuesday. The matter is likely to be heard by a vacation bench headed by Justice R Subhash Reddy on May 8.
