KCR pushes brand Telangana in Singapore

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to hard-sell ‘Brand Telangana’ in Singapore to attract investments by explaining the availability of resources in the State and highlighting the investor-friendly policies of his government.

Addressing IIM-PACT, an event organised by alumni of IIM and attended by investors and entrepreneurs at Raffles City in Singapore on Friday, the Chief Minister said Telangana would leverage its huge land bank for industrial growth as Singapore had done with its advantageous sea-port location. “Every inch of land will be put to productive use and the ones not fit even for industry will be used for solar power generation,” he explained.

New industrial policy

He highlighted his government’s plans to create ‘plug and play’ facilities for industry by unveiling a new industrial policy soon with an assurance that it would inspire the international as well as domestic investors. Stating that foremost requirement for large-scale industrialisation was availability of land, Mr. Rao said Telangana was lucky to have inherited a huge land bank created by the Asafjahi rulers.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said his government had identified over 3 lakh acres of government land and it would be converted into modern industrial parks with high-quality infrastructure. Telangana was connected by four and six-lane highways and industrial parks would be developed within 100 km radius of Hyderabad.

He hoped that an effective automatic approval system and a chasing cell in the CMO would make Telangana the first choice destination for investments along with the new industrial policy with zero tolerance to corruption.
